Hoppy Eight Months, Colton!

Now that he's mobile, it is quite an undertaking getting his "block" pictures done. Oh well, I guess it captures his true colors!





I must have something in my hands at ALL times. Can we say "hands-on" learner???!!!


I'm outta here, Mom. This photoshoot is over!

Pulling up on the cases of Diet Coke. We don't usually keep 4 cases at a time, but they were 5 for $10 at the grocery store so we stocked up.



We've got two words to sum up our little boy at 8 months old. He is our ENERGETIC ANGEL! We are constantly saying, "Where's Colton?" or "Come back here." because he's scooted off somewhere fast.



These are the things I want to remember about this age:

• Colton learned how to go from crawling to sitting this month.


• Colton is pulling up to standing on everything, including mommy's and daddy's legs.


• Colton gets so excited to see his friends and toys, especially his friend Jazmin, babysitter Jenilee and his toy bunny.


• Colton is starting to wave bye-bye to Daddy in the morning. It's more like a "peace out, dude" but we're working on it. I love the way he and Daddy play together.


• Colton is now going back to a sitting position from standing up. It's more of a plop, but it works for him. For a few nights last week, we were getting up in the middle of the night to help Colton get "unstuck". He would be standing up or kneeling in his crib and couldn't figure out how to get down and go back to sleep. Thankfully, (knock on wood), that has passed.


• Colton loves to feel the texture of everything - he doesn't miss a detail. Unfortunately this need to touch everything makes diaper changes a DISASTER! He is quite distracted and does not like to slow down for a second. Please tell me this is just a phase.


• Colton also likes to lick everything even the floors. I've never mopped more in my life!


• Colton loves cell phones, remote controls, laptops and all things that shine, beep or light up.


• Colton has started playing catch with us. He can kind of throw/roll a ball in our general direction. So fun!


• Colton loves bath time, being outside and eating!


• He's starting to communicate. When he wants his bottle, he will crawl into the kitchen and kind of grunt.

We are so grateful for our BUNDLE OF ACTIVE JOY! Thank you God for our precious angel boy. We love you, little man! We can't wait to see what you do next...

Time is MARCHing on...way too fast!!!

Here's our little sleepy head. For some reason he always ends up like this in his crib. They are so precious when they're sleeping.
And when they are awake... they are a MESS!!!

For some reason this video didn't work last time. Here it is again. More pictures coming soon from Spring Break.... I know I've been slacking :) Have a wonderful Easter weekend! We went to the Arboretum today and got some cute pictures.

Here are a few more photos that blogger wouldn't let me post with the last entry... I forgot to mention that we decorated Colton's helmet last week. I couldn't quite decide on one theme, so I just went crazy with anything having to do with wheels, sports or toys... I'll post some close-ups soon. He's still doing great with the helmet. We had our first check-up this week and it already seems to be making a difference and he's only been in it for 2 weeks. It's amazing how 6 oz of foam can actually reshape his head.

Seven Months Old

Here's Colton at 7 months playing with a few of his favorite things. This kid loves spoons, lids, boxes and containers! As his daddy always says, "it's the little things"!

We've got a CRAWLER!!!

Here's my little sleepyhead with his new helmet. This was on the way home from the clinic. It doesn't seem to be bothering him one bit. He took two great naps today with it on and has been sleeping away tonight since 7:30. Praise God! This is the only pic I have so far. I'll post another soon. I think he looks like a little speedracer. Maybe we should decorate it with racecars :)

In other breaking news... the helmet couldn't have come at a better time! Colton took his first forward moving crawls today! Of course when I broke out the video camera, he got cold feet or knees rather, but you get the idea! He was fascinated with the flashlight! He reminded me of the videos where the cats try to pounce on the light. Too cute.

Quick Update

Well - today was the day! Colton received his DOC Band (helmet). He is handling it great! I wanted to post pictures but I only got one before he started feeling bad. Poor little guy - he started running a fever of 101 this evening. We decided to take the band off for tonight because we were afraid he would get overheated. He's acting fine just not quite as energetic as usual. He actually took a nap this afternoon in the band and slept fine. Of course now, I'm not sure if he was just extra sleepy from the fever or if he really doesn't mind the helmet. It's been an eventful day. First we got the helmet. Then we ended up with a flat tire after small group tonight. Had quite a fiasco lowering Colton's crib (Yes, the boy's started pulling up to a standing position) And now he has a fever. He's sleeping fine right now... Of course, I can't help but worry - not sure if I'll get much sleep tonight - you should never google "Baby Fever" - not ever!

February Firsts

Well, now that it's almost March, I figured I better get caught up on my pictures from February. February was such a momentous month! From haircuts to helments, not to mention crawling, Colton has been one busy little critter! Here are just a few firsts from the past month!

First time pulling up in my crib! We have now safely lowered his mattress.

This is a first for both of the individuals pictured... Uncle Zach giving a bottle for the first time and Colton's first visit to his Uncle Zach's apartment. Zach also babysat Colton for the first time last Friday. He did a great job! Thanks Zach!
