We've got a CRAWLER!!!

Here's my little sleepyhead with his new helmet. This was on the way home from the clinic. It doesn't seem to be bothering him one bit. He took two great naps today with it on and has been sleeping away tonight since 7:30. Praise God! This is the only pic I have so far. I'll post another soon. I think he looks like a little speedracer. Maybe we should decorate it with racecars :)

In other breaking news... the helmet couldn't have come at a better time! Colton took his first forward moving crawls today! Of course when I broke out the video camera, he got cold feet or knees rather, but you get the idea! He was fascinated with the flashlight! He reminded me of the videos where the cats try to pounce on the light. Too cute.

Quick Update

Well - today was the day! Colton received his DOC Band (helmet). He is handling it great! I wanted to post pictures but I only got one before he started feeling bad. Poor little guy - he started running a fever of 101 this evening. We decided to take the band off for tonight because we were afraid he would get overheated. He's acting fine just not quite as energetic as usual. He actually took a nap this afternoon in the band and slept fine. Of course now, I'm not sure if he was just extra sleepy from the fever or if he really doesn't mind the helmet. It's been an eventful day. First we got the helmet. Then we ended up with a flat tire after small group tonight. Had quite a fiasco lowering Colton's crib (Yes, the boy's started pulling up to a standing position) And now he has a fever. He's sleeping fine right now... Of course, I can't help but worry - not sure if I'll get much sleep tonight - you should never google "Baby Fever" - not ever!

February Firsts

Well, now that it's almost March, I figured I better get caught up on my pictures from February. February was such a momentous month! From haircuts to helments, not to mention crawling, Colton has been one busy little critter! Here are just a few firsts from the past month!

First time pulling up in my crib! We have now safely lowered his mattress.

This is a first for both of the individuals pictured... Uncle Zach giving a bottle for the first time and Colton's first visit to his Uncle Zach's apartment. Zach also babysat Colton for the first time last Friday. He did a great job! Thanks Zach!

Brave Boy!

Today, Colton had a cast made of his head so his helmet can be made. He was so brave!!! Bunny came with us to the appointment and was a huge help. I think it caused us more stress than it did Colton. He didn't love it, but as long as we sang to him, he was pretty calm. At one point we even had the therapist singing. He only had to wear the plaster for a few minutes, so hopefully it wasn't too traumatic for our little man.

Where's Colton?

Hmmmm... There was a little boy playing on this blanket a little while ago. Have you seen him?
Here he is! Colton has begun scooting backwards everywhere. I usually (used to) place him on a blanket or in his bouncy seat near me while I am getting ready for work in the mornings. This particular morning I had already caught him backing into our closet while I was in the shower. I quickly scooped him up and deposited him back to his blanket. The next minute I look up and he is halfway under our bed! Uh oh - my boy's mobile! I'm not sure I'm ready for this...

The critter has been contained...in our bathtub...a temporary solution for now! I need to start thinking of a Plan B. Any ideas are welcome!

More Six Month Milestones...

I've now retired my "bath bear". Instead of laying down in the bathtub, I'm sitting up in my big boy tub. We were giving baths every night but the doctor said to cut back to 2-3 a week due to his eczema.
Eating solids. I started sitting up around Christmas time as well as starting solids. So far I've had rice cereal, oatmeal, applesauce, pears, prunes, peaches, sweet potatoes, squash, bananas, peas and carrots. I love everything except bananas and peas. I also love my "Baby Mum Mum" crackers!

Just kicking back and enjoying my afternoon bottle. Mom lets me hold it at the very end. I guess she still wants to cuddle with me for most of my bottle. I suppose I'll indulge her for now. (I'm still nursing morning and evening and he's getting formula for two of his bottles.) It's working out well and I'm enjoying the freedom at work!

Some other 6 month milestones:

Colton is sleeping throught the night most nights! He goes down around 7 and makes it until about 6-7 the next morning!!!! Woohoo! I never thought I'd see this day....

At his last check-up, Colton weighed 17 lbs (40%) and was 28 inches long (90%-95%). Unfortunately, the doctor recommended a helmet to correct his plagiopcephaly (flat head shape). We are sad that he'll have to wear a helmet for a few months, but very thankful that he is such a healthy little boy. It's probably coming at just the right time. He's getting very close to crawling and now his little head will be protected from all the upcoming bumps and bruises! He'll be receiving his helmet on February 20th and will need to wear it 23 hours a day. Please say a prayer that this treatment will correct his head quickly and that he will not be bothered by wearing it.

Six Months of Joy

There is so much I want to remember about this fun age/stage. Here are just a few of my favorite Colton moments...

• I love the way he squeals with delight when he sees other babies. He especially loves to see his friend, Jazmin in the mornings when Mommy works.
• I love the way he still smiles with his whole body.


• I love the way he gasps when you blow in his face.


• He loves his "Johnny Jumper"


• He babbles sweet words and so far I think I've heard him say "Egypt, cookie and hi" :)


• He likes to play with his marble roller coaster, maracas, bunny stuffed animal, any type of ball, exersaucer, tools, learning table and boxes or lids.


• He likes to give sweet kisses and closes his eyes.


• He is holding his bottle all by himself, but Mommy still likes to feed him and hold him close.


• He is scooting backwards.


• He gives new meaning to the term, "bouncing baby boy"! If we're standing, we're jumping!
• He loves to go on walks.
• He loves to ride in the car!
• He notices everything.
• He likes to drop things and watch where they land.
• He's ticklish right under his chin.
• He loves getting zerberts.
• I love going to his crib in the mornings. He lights up when he sees us and smiles so big when we sing the Good Morning Song.
• He yawns when we start to swaddle him and is getting so good at naps and falling asleep all by himself.

Thank you God for giving Colton to us! May he grow up to be a man that trusts in you and loves you with all of his heart.
