Red River Vacation Part 4

Project Life:  Week 31: August 3, 2011 to August 10, 2011

Sunday, August 7

On Sunday, we did a small church service at the cabin and then headed out for a picnic. Our original plan was to picnic in  ?, NM but after driving out there and seeing the huge drop offs all around the picnic areas we decided to head back to Red River to find another picnic site. We found a great spot at another park nestled in the mountains

 Caden was a little bit of a distracted driver. He just liked to swing off the bars.

 After the picnic we went on another short hike after driving up to Greenie Peak.

 Caden got going really fast. This was right before he took a tumble but he got up, dusted off his hands and kept running.

Monday, August 8

 On Monday we got packed up and headed for home. Group shot with Grandma!

We stopped in Amarillo for the night and Colton and his grandparents stayed at The Oasis RV park while Caden and I stayed at my friend Jordan's house. It was a short stay but it was great to get to see her and her family for a little bit. Thanks for letting us stay the night!

Tuesday, August 9

On our second day of traveling home we stopped at Sonic for lunch and then found a park in Childress, TX. It was good to stretch our legs but the temperatures were already in the 100's and the equipment was hot. Here are the boys pushing Grandad. They told Grandad that he was supposed to push instead of ride :)

No, he's not injured. This is what 6+ hours in the car looks like on a toddler. He got hold of a marker during one leg of the trip :)

 Glad to be home! One last horsey ride from Grandad and then our journey was finished. Thanks for such a fun trip, Grandma and Grandad, and for driving us home!

Wednesday, August 10

 Whew! This is what you look like after a big vacation! Actually the boys received some fun mail while they were gone. Aunt Cindy sent them some cool diggers and matching pillowcases with their names on them. As you can tell, they loved them! Thanks, Aunt Cindy!!

Red River Vacation Part 3

Saturday, August 6

Here are Grandma and Grandad Colton and Wilkin on Saturday morning.  Grandma has a tradition of giving vacation prizes daily to the kids. They love it! Today's prize was a set of  Playmobil legos for each boy. 

3/4 of the grandsons wearing another Grandma prize. Bear shirts from  Grandma and Grandad's trip to Yellowstone.

Grandad snapped most of these great pictures! He thought this showed Caden's resemblance to Mama :)

Headed out on the town in Red River!

It's such a fun family town. This was a city park right in the middle of town. I loved how it was set right against the mountains. 

Daddy and Caden braving the fun slide :) He only rode it this one time.

The Pecore boys couldn't get enough of the  Fun Slide. I think Doug rode it at least 15 times!

We found a neat old-timey arcade. They had a roller rink, pool and an upstairs indoor putt-putt course.

This is near the city park in downtown Red River.

Three times a week there's a shoot-out. Before the show began there were some Indian dancers and the boys got to have their picture made with them. 

Watching the shoot-out! Caden didn't make it past the first shot so I took him over to the park until the show was over.

That evening we celebrated Jarrett's birthday and had a yummy snickers cake. They boys were VERY excited to sing and help him with the candles...oh and eat the cake too!

Can we say FUN!!!

Red River Vacation Part 2

Friday, August 5 (continued)

 Our house was next to a beautiful river. The boys had a blast playing in and around it. Caden's favorite part was throwing rocks in the water and making a big splash! I had fun playing with my camera and took way too many pictures, but it was just so beautiful!

 You know you're on vacation when you have time to really see the wonder of God's creation up close and personal!

 The house had a fenced in dog run that was perfect for our "4 under 4". They spent hours digging in the dirt and made quite an impressive trench.

First hike of vacation. Colton remembered hiking in Breckenridge last vacation and was so excited to go on another real hike! We could barely keep up with him.

 I love this picture with the sun coming through the trees and it was taken on my iphone!

 All that hiking makes little boys in need of a good bubble bath!

 Caden is not pictured in the bath because he was not a fan of the bubble jets!

 Thanks Grandma for the matching shark PJ's. They loved them!
